About Our Fair Trade Jewellery
Kirstie MacLean Collection (Vanessa, Laura, Clara & Mia Necklaces)
Kirstie uses beautiful beads, handmade by a women's cooperative in Uganda, from recycled magazines and posters. The paper is rolled into shape, coated with a layer of varnish and then finished with a glossy water resistant coating.The exact colour of the bead depends on the recycled paper selected by the beader. No two beads are exactly the same, therefore each piece of jewellery is unique.
The large beads used in this collection are made from barkcloth, which is naturally dyed. Barkcloth beads are produced sustainably by a cooperative in Uganda.
Wooden Jewellery
The wooden necklaces are handmade in Indonesia by craftsmen working in their own workshops. The wood used is from sustainable sources.
