The Worm Works Stacking Tray Wormery works by harnessing the 'surface-feeding' nature of the Tiger Worms that live inside it. You start by adding your food waste to the bottom tray. As the system fills, you add food waste to the next tray up and the worms follow the food upwards through the trays leaving behind the compost. This makes for very convenient harvesting. When you start to put food in the top tray, simply empty the compost from the bottom tray and put the newly emptied tray on top, to continue the process. Liquid fertilizer gathers in a chamber at the bottom where there is a tap to drain it into your watering can.
The wormery is supplied with plenty of small-medium sized young (and therefore hungry) Tiger Worms (Eisenia Fetida). Research has shown that these are the best native species of worm for use in a wormery. Tiger Worms breed exceptionally well, are hungrier, and are more tolerant of a wider temperature, moisture and acidity range than their close cousins Dendrobaena(which are often used in wormeries). Tiger Worms will eat around twice as much (per body weight) as Dendrobaena. Best quality worms are supplied by an independent worm farm.
The Worm Works is constructed from high quality, 100% recycled plastic, with a 5 year warranty on materials and workmanship. Strong plastic is used so that the integrated stand remains stable and the trays do not warp or wobble when the wormery is full. It is available in Black or Terracotta with a choice of 3 or 4 trays. Includes coir brick, shredded paper, anti-acid lime mix and 16 page illustrated instruction guide. The wormery is very simple to assemble.
