There are many ways in which children can be encouraged to lead a more eco friendly lifestyle.
Buy recycled
When buying school equipment, try stationery made from recycled materials, lunch boxes made from recycled juice packs and staple-free eco staplers.

Use alternatives to batteries
Each year, huge numbers of batteries end up in landfill sites and release harmful chemicals into the environment. Just one per person each year means 60 million in the UK alone! A large number of these are used to power toys! You can help by buying toys that use alternative power such as solar or wind-up. If you do need to use batteries, use rechargeable ones and you can be really eco friendly by recharging them with solar power.

Sustainbility in the garden
Encourage children to help in the garden and teach them about sustainability. Recycle your food waste through a wormery and have fun making compost with a Composphere that can be rolled around the garden to speed up the composting process. [click here for wormeries and Composphere].
Children love using a Paper Potter to recycle old newspapers into seedling pots. They can then help pot the seedlings, and later plant the plants and paper pots in the gaden.[click here for Paper Potter].
