Save Energy and Money

Help the environment and your bank balance by following these energy saving tips :

Turn your thermostat down by 1º which will reduce the amount of energy used and your heating bills by around 5%.

Avoid using a tumble dryer - dry your clothes outside or use a laundry airer [click here for Sheila Maid].

Wash your clothes at the lowest temperature possble.

Switch appliances off completely. When appliances are left in standby mode, they continue to use electricity that contributes to carbon emissions and costs money! It is estimated that leaving appliances on standby accounts for 7% of the total electricity used in UK homes! Remote controlled devices are now available to help make it easy to switch off multiple appliances from standby [click here for Standby Buster ].

When you switch your computer off, ensure that you switch off all of the peripheral equipment (printer, scanner, backup drive etc) too! [click here for Intelliplug].

If you are the last person to leave a room, switch the lights off.

You can save energy and money every time you make a cup of tea by boiling only the amount of water you need. It is estimated that most people actually boil twice the amount of water that they need every time, thus using twice as much energy, costing twice as much and taking twice as long as required. The energy saving eco kettle can help you to get it right every time. [click here for Eco kettle].
